I choose subjects that feel right. Mostly, I just paint for the fun of it.

I do commission work I call Special Place Portraits, such as the painting I did several years ago for two professors at Oklahoma State University. They supplied a photograph of their former home in the Seychelles Islands and commissioned me to do a painting they could hang in their new home in Stillwater. I use photos as reference such as a certain truck or car, a picture of the house or family business. It’s like putting the puzzle pieces together

I was born in Portland, Oregon and grew up in Long Beach, California. I attended Long Beach City College, and received a degree in Commercial Art from the University of Central Oklahoma. I was an illustrator in the Marine Corps and I’ve worked as a graphic designer, illustrator for manufacturing companies, ad agencies, and printers as well as doing free-lance art. I retired as the Manager of Creative Services at the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education where I spent twenty years.

I’ve had six shows in Oklahoma and participated in art festivals in Oklahoma, Kansas, New Mexico, and California.
